It was not clear what the standout feature would be compared with platforms like Goodreads.
What happened
Started as a personal reading tracker with a speed/progress angle. Momentum stalled once the differentiator against Goodreads and StoryGraph never crystallized.
Lessons learned
- If the answer to “why would someone switch?” is fuzzy at week one, it is going to be fuzzier at month three.
- Pick the one metric the product uniquely obsesses over, and design the whole surface around it.
- It is fine to shelve a project before launch — sunk-cost coding is worse than an unlaunched repo.
